I have been testing out the skin exfoliation method from our dear friend Jean. I do the routine once every third day. I apply creams everyday morning, noon and night (sometimes I forget the noon, but I don't really think it matters).
I have made my own cream lotion concoction to apply to the treated skin. I useĀ a standard collagen and Vitamin E skin firming cream mixed with MSM flakes and almond oil and I mix this with pure Aloe Vera gel. I take MSM flakes in my water along with fish oil and evening primrose oil and vitamin C plus a general women's multi vitamin. I have cut back to 1 teaspoon in the morning of MSM as the other day I upped the dose to two teaspoons and felt very jittery and anxious. I am trying not to have any MSM close to bed time becasue if I have too much my dreams are so vivid it sometimes feels as though I wasn't even sleeping.
Here is a recipe for making your own basic MSM and Aloe Vera Lotion.
Stretch Marks Improvement
- After I do the exfoliation method the stretch marks always look worse than ever (which makes my heart sink as you would imagine).
- Two days after the exfoliation treatment the overall skin texture seems much improved, the skin is softer and the marks appear lighter and to blend in better with the rest of the skin.
- The marks are still there, all of them, not one has disappeared or even reduced in size or anything, they just seem lighter.
- Sometimes it feels as though I am making progress in reducing the stretch marks and then I catch a glimpse of them in some of those unflattering artificial lights they love to stick in some change rooms and BAM! Hideous... and it seems almost like nothing happened.
- I am also somewhat discouraged by some posts in forums that state that this does not work and is a scam. But I am willing to see it through for 6 months and to be completely honest about it here.
Please leave your comments regarding your experience with this exfoliation method. What was or is your routine? what improvements did you see? Did it work for you even in the slightest?

I have started to test this method 3 weeks ago and no results yet but I’ll give it 6 months to see wether ir works or not! but I think the marks can go away!
That’s great! thanks for your input and keep letting us know what progress you make with the exfoliation technique for your stretch marks. I have also heard that different things work on different people. All the best!
Keep it up, I used this method and it’s the only thing that worked (I’ve tried copper peptides, peels, emu oil, barmons, cocoa butter, etc etc etc). I didn’t bother with the exfoliation though, stretch marks are too deep to be affected by peels… the most important elements are taking in at least 1 heaping tablespoon of MSM powder daily, a vigorous massage no more than once a week (I used a plastic scalp massager tool), and 2x daily application of MSM cream. That might sound like a bit, but I found it to work best.
The change is VERY gradual, so be prepared to do this for some time, 8 months AT LEAST. During this time your stretch marks will gradually fill-in with collagen and slowly fade away visually, until at some point they blend in completely with your skin. The absolute key is TIME. That can’t be stressed enough. Most people give up after a few weeks or months. You have to just keep doing it, whether or not you think you are seeing results. Cheers and good luck. I had deep long stretch marks on my shoulders and they are now completely gone. Some kept breaking up into smaller and smaller stretch marks, until they were gone. Others just faded away without breaking up. Took me over a year to get rid of them all. Cheers and good luck.
Just wanted to make a correction on the above post: 1 heaping TEASPOON not tablespoon.
Cheers.
Thanks Jon! That is very positive information. I have always thought that MSM is probably the key here. I have been taking it for about 3 months now and can’t say that I see any improvements or that any of the stretch marks have faded yet but as you said time is the key ingrediant and one has to just keep persevering.
Yep, you just have to stick it out. I would recommend switching to a pure MSM cream though (15 percent concentration). Nothing else is needed topically, and the additional ingredients MAY be hindering the absorption of the MSM. Try to eat healthier overall as well (dark green leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, etc). We are what we eat after all. I didn’t “see” any real results for almost 4 months, until one day I looked mirror and realized all my stretch marks were almost level with my skin. Looking at them every day, it’s impossible to notice the incremental changes…
Also, I would recommend stopping the exfoliation process altogether. I noticed better results with just a 5 minute vigorous massage once per week with a rigid plastic scalp massage tool. I found the wooden knobs on Jean’s massage tool weren’t aggressive (pointy) enough. Again, just have patience and try to look at your stretch marks as little as possible. Just get into a routine, and don’t worry about results for the time being. Time is on your side.
Cheers,
Jon

Since the beginning of this blog/post. Anyone else have the results from the methods / products as mentioned here? Any input would be great. Thanks.
Hey Jon. I know this is very late in the game, but with your stretch marks – are your final results simply, no visibility of the mark, or are the actually fully healed? I’ve been using MSM routinely (every day) for 6 months now. I have noticed some difference, but not to the extent you appeared to have. Is there any other advice you can throw my way? I eat very very well.
Hello. Jon I was wondering if you’re streth marks completely disappeared or are they just light and even with your skin? I’ve been doing a removal method myself for over 2 years now. Phew! I’m tired just thinking about it! Anyway I’m using the neutrogena facial micro dermabrasion tool without the head to make it more rough ( I got this idea from an eHow user ) I’m taking 1 heaping teaspoon of MSM in lemon water and a homemade MSM cream of 17% conentration MSM. My marks were MUCH more noticeable than they are now so I’m really grateful to you for telling us about the MSM and yes it’s taking me forever but it’s all been worth it! They look SO much better all the time! I know they are SLOWLY going to disappear completely. The tool I use is very painful but it’s worth it! Don’t ever stop and have faith guys!
Lily, I am wondering what sort of changes you have seen in your stretch marks over the last two years? Are they red or white? Deep or not deep? I have stretch marks I’ve been working on a long time. Best I can say is they feel less deep than they used to be, but it is still taking FOREVER..
Can anyone explain how this “tool” everyone has spoken of works? What kind of tool is it? I am definitely inetersted and will be in this for the long haul if the desired results (which are bye-bye stretch marks) are possible! Thanks Jon for the advice thus far!
